Common Areas Description
The common areas have been specifically designed to enhance quality of life and maximize health outcomes and wellbeing. The open plan of our home allows ease of physical and visual access to promote positive clinical outcomes. Additionally these areas have been designed to optimize everyday living experiences, promoting independence and mirroring home life. All the communal areas at Windsor incorporate both living and dining rooms that are centrally located with direct access from all bedrooms, reflecting a home like environment allowing people with reduced mobility to access all areas freely. Given the different experiences of our residents, the sitting areas have been subtly divided into warm and inviting zones that can be used as quiet areas for intimate family gatherings or for larger social activities. Continuing with the Associations philosophy, all meals are prepared on site and the home cooking allows the smells and activity to create an environment reminiscent of every day home life and can act as a sensory cue to enhance appetite. The lounge area boasts a high set ceiling, large windows and warm color palette, making it bright and pleasant. Large glass automated sliding doors lead from the lounge into the comfortably furnished outdoor balcony area. The balcony seating encourages private visiting or enjoyment of the view of the surrounding community. Both Thorne and Palmer have sun-protected outdoor entertainment areas for eating, relaxation, or connection to the outdoors. Including raised gardens beds with a purpose designed edible garden. Residents very much enjoy gathering fresh produce and eggs from our chickens, using them to create meals. Families, and specifically grandchildren, very much enjoy the butterfly house and spending time in the gardens with their grandparents.
