Aged Care Reviews (www.AgedCareReviews.com.au) welcomes the impending launch of the Australian Aged Care Ratings website, run by Millennium Aged Care Placement consultants and the directory website Aged Care Online.
Aged Care Reviews is Australia’s only dedicated public aged care review and feedback site. Launched in January, the site already houses over 100 reviews.
Co-Founder of Aged Care Reviews, Mr Kenneth Ray, commented today: “As we understand the new Ratings Service website, aged care facilities will voluntarily conduct a self-evaluation, providing the results to the Aged Care Ratings Service, who will then visit the facility to gauge the accuracy of the self-evaluation”.
“The Aged Care Ratings Service is another example of how aged care in Australia is changing. With the government’s focus on consumer directed care and the mandatory publication of accommodation prices from mid May, we are pleased to see another initiative that will assist the public in gathering facts before families commit to an aged care placement that will cost many hundreds of thousands of dollars. The more information in the public domain, the better.” Mr Ray said.
“A concerted effort is underway to improve quality in aged care, with multiple perspectives being harnessed to do so. Aged Care Reviews is proud of our part in that process – providing a voice for residents and their families.
“Even more importantly, Aged Care Reviews is proud of the aged care facilities that are coming on board and encouraging reviews on their facilities from residents and families, in order to gain additional feedback and help their continuous improvement strategies.
“We encourage the sector to embrace initiatives like Aged Care Reviews (from the public perspective) and Aged Care Ratings Service (from the operators perspective) so that the power of transparency and continuous improvement is harnessed, not feared” said Mr Ray.
Aged Care Reviews is currently live and receiving reviews.
