Review Uniting Mayflower Westmead

The building is old but was recently renovated which was good. Staff are friendly and nice but the lack of staff to look after the residents is affecting the value of care. Not sure what the ratio of RN per resident is. At the Uniting Care Mayflower Westmead, each time our mom presses the buzzer, no one comes immediately to answer the need. If something critical has happened, there's no immediate attention to the resident due to the lack of care staff. My mom had accident in the bathroom before and it took half an hour before someone found her. No one attended to her buzzer. This is a management issue and I am not blaming the staff who are all doing their job but there's not enough care staff at the facility.

My mum was in Mayflower Nursing home at Westmead NSW they looked after her really well. When she was diagnosed with inflammatory breast cancer the nursing staff where excellent and caring we could not have asked for better. They even let us stay with her 24/7 the last two weeks of her life.

The building is old so needs an upgrade. Staff are friendly and helpful although I think needs more RNs in each floor to accommodate the needs of the residents. Every time I call, there is no one to pick up the phone at the nurse station, which is frustrating. The food is nice according to my mom when she was new there but after a few months, she is getting sick of the food. Maybe menu should be repeated only after a couple of months. Family requests were actioned immediately. Close to Westmead Hospital where my mother's specialist is. Overall, our family is happy.
