My Father has been at the Woods Point Aged Care facility for 5 years now. We looked at other places closer to our home, but preferred this one. Over time we have found the staff to be nothing short of welcoming. They cannot do enough for ourselves or the residents, this goes for all staff, nurses, kitchen and laundry. They all treat the elderly with much compassion and respect. Visitors are welcome any time as is are suggestions and or comments around and about my fathers care. The staff take the time to get to know the residents and to just sit and talk with them or read to them. They entertain inactive residents and active alike. I would not entertain the idea of moving my father as the staff their understand him even though his speech is limited. They treat all the residents with the dignity that they deserve. The staff all deserve medals.

For several days, maybe up to a week, there was inadequate food. Toast only for breakfast, soup and toast for lunch, and similar for dinner. Appalling. It was finally remedied on 24th Feb 2017. This has been confirmed by the Government's Aged Care Complaints service. Not good enough. The residents need adequate nutrition. Anything less is inexcuseable.

My mother has been a resident for about a year and a half now and everyone on staff embraces the residents with a love and compassion befitting the elderly and infirm. Activities are plentiful, interaction is encouraged and they are not treated like burdens, but valued guests. Every time I visit I'm welcomed into the fold and there is a real sense of community. A wonderful environment!

I have found this facility to be of high standards and the staff without fault. My mothers life has improved so much by being in this caring environment and she has never been so happy and care free. She is in the dementia wing and they can give her all the attention she needs. All the girls working there are wonderful! It is clean and odour free and has a resort atmosphere. Plenty of separate areas to take your loved ones for tea or coffee, not to mention biscuits for all. God bless Amberlea !!!

John Curtin is a wonderful caring home where my husband is who sadly got Alzheimer's at an early age. The highest cause of death with Alzheimer's is malnutrition and seeing what goes on in "all" homes (he has been in 3) and speaking to many people that belong to our Woodend Carers Group we all agree that their isn't enough staff to be able to help everyone eat all their meals, some meals get taken away even though the resident could have eaten more, the staff don't see that the resident just got side tracked or bored with eating, if they had someone helping them they would eat more. It's very sad to see people withering away when they could be helped. Also why do the men get the same size small meal that women get? I could write a book on dementia wards and I'm sure the many people I know with family members in dementia wards could write a chapter each of their own.

Very caring staff with comfortable accommodation. Rooms a little small in the older section of the centre but very clean and well kept. Food options for all preferences leaning more towards Australian type food. Probably could do with some more imaginative activities for the residents.

Obviously Iv read your latest reviews. Mine is not as positive the care my mother received in this facility was appalling and nothing but neglect. I shouldn't say care as there was some days with none and every other limited. My family are still dismayed at her treatment lost count of times l visited and stepped around urine other residents in soiled adault nappy"s . Finding your mother unresponsive only to be told she's faking it. Then Having to ring a ambulance. My mother was in the peacock facility secure smelly and unsupervised...... Lift your game john curtain. Would NOT recommend this place Even for a animal

The facility is quite good and new in appearance with all the residents that I saw appearing to be well looked after and comfortable however. It did seem however that for the money that they paid more of an effort could be made for the residents facilities. This could include having Wi-Fi other internet available, apart from two computers which apparently often didn't work. Also there could have been made available books, magazines and videos for residents to use in the privacy of their own rooms. Apart from this the facility was quite good and nothing like some of the horror stories that you hear about nursing homes.

This is a very good nursing facility .The staff is excellent and the very few inadequate carers are easy to spot. The care given to residents falls short of ideal only because there are not enough staff.Although there are a number of lifestyle carers ,some are not fully aware of the very special needs of dementia patients. In my humble opinion there really is no lifestyle ,but all residents seem to be peaceful in the very least.

The residential care facility I am very familiar with has the potential to be the best around.Great staff and management are stalled in their efforts by the lack of staff ( funding) which leaves the residents lacking in some areas.

I think this facility is as good as possible under the funding it receives from the government. The staff do as well as possible, but at times fail to give proper care when short of staff or time. There are a very few carers who should not be working in a dementia ward,as where my husband lives, for they do not have either the personality or training to do so.I am so grateful for the many talented, dedicated, hardworking and cheerful carers who persevere in care giving.

On the whole the care and consideration extended to my mother was very much appreciated by my family. Food could have been more varied at times. Her clothing, bedding and room always looked neat and spotless. Visiting was always a pleasure and staff seemed to work as a happy team to make residents as comfortable and settled as possible.

A friend of mine recommended me to check this facility for a suitable home for my mother in law because of its nice garden at the back. On the day, I was a little bit disappointed because I rang to book for a tour only to go home without any brochures and other necessary information because they don't have enough ready ( manager's should always be ready for this especially with inspection bookings on the day). The place is huge but doesn't have a proper reception area so when I entered, it was a bit confusing where to go and who to asked. There were no couches or chairs either close to the entry door where visitors can wait before they get accommodated. This facility is pleasant and huge with high ceilings but seemed a bit dim and dark even though the lights were on. They don't seem to have an appropriate equipment rooms either because hoist machines and standing machines with a few wheelchairs were scattered around the hallway area. A potential hazard for residents walking by the hallway. The activity area is big and colorful where residents were playing bingo at that time. Every residents have their own private rooms and ensuite. It is a bit smaller in size compared to a few facilities Iv'e seen. The good thing about this place are their adjoining rooms for couples to occupy. I adore the garden at the back and its view. I also love their lifestyle program wherein every resident is given an opportunity to go to Bunnings and pick their plant of choice and have it planted at the backyard. I saw some capsicums, tomatoes, rockmelon and lemons. For residents who love gardening, this is the perfect place for you. They also have chooks at the back of the garden. This facility gives you a country home style feel.
