My grandmother was a resident at Shoawater Aged Care for approx 2 years. Sadly she passed away over Easter (2016) aged 100

Both my parents were in Aged care at the same time and it was the most stressful and emotionally exhausting time of my life. My mother, in particular, hated being there as the place stunk of urine, the food was awful and she wouldn't eat it and the staff took ages to arrive when she called them. Many of them were also impatient with the clients and items were often stolen from my parents' belongings. They lost all their dignity in there and mum only lasted about 6 months in the care facility.

My Mother has been in residential care for over five years. It was the hardest decision our family had to make. She is beautifully taken care of and is extremely happy in her "home". We, as a family are very relieved to know her wellbeing is so tenderly and lovingly looked after.

I find the staff very appreciable if I need to talk to them at all with any concerns or anything I need to ask them. They all seem to be bright and cheerful and that is what the residents need. My father in law passed away last year but my mother in law is still there and they were wonderful at his time of passing with her and still are. When my father in law moved in there with his wife it took him a long time to get use to the idea of being there and leaving his dog and house behind and everything that was in it but they said their dog could visit any time and tried to make my father in law as comfortable as they could. He gave the poor girls hell at first but after awhile the staff got to know him and visa versa then they all got along fine.
