Room DescriptionDougherty Villa is a 54 bed facility constructed of brick on a single level with a colourbond roof - built in 1993. The interior walls are plaster lined with wet areas being hard plastered.
A secure special needs wing was added in 2001, built at the same ground floor single level and of matching materials.
The premises are fully serviced by appropriate smoke compartments and fire sprinklers throughout. Reverse cycle air conditioning is throughout the building and individual rooms.
A program of refurbishment of residents rooms has been ongoing for the last three years with rooms refurbished as they become vacant.
Both the exterior and interior common access areas are highly maintained and in excellent condition. Resident's rooms are a minimum of 17m2 with 2.7m ceilings.
All rooms open to connecting 1.6m hallways and also have external glass sliding doors opening to an outdoor patio with landscaped grounds. All rooms thus enjoy views over maintained landscaped grounds.
Resident rooms are fitted with a small kitchenette, built in robes, refrigerator, single bed, bedside cabinet, chair, wall fan, TV wall bracket, aerial connection and phone access.
Each room has a private ensuite with floor to ceiling tiling, full disabled access to the shower, toilet, basin and vanity cupboard.
Four sets of rooms have internal interconnecting doors to make provision for partners where required.
Common Areas DescriptionFacilities accessible to all residents include;
1. Spread throughout the building are four individual sitting rooms of approximately 32m2. These rooms have a kitchenette, refrigerator, tea and coffee making facilities, microwave and external access to the courtyard.
2. A dining room of 130m2 that seats in excess of 100 people in dining style fitted with timber dining furniture, casual seating, piano, large screen TV and public address system. Apart from being used for daily dining this room is used for large gatherings, such as parties and entertainment to which family and friends are welcome.
3. A multi purpose room / chapel of 130m2 was constructed in 2006. This room is accousitically designed with high ceilings, a feature leadlight window, hardwood parquetry flooring, small kitchen, and verandahs that enjoy a scenic outlook over open grassland towards the park and Grafton Base Hospital. The room is serviced by seperate male, female and disabled toilet facilities. This beautiful large room accommodates many of our activites and, regular church services and functions.
4. Two small laundries for resident's use of 8m2, each equipped with a washing machine, dryer, ironing facilities and outside access to a drying court.
5. The Frangipani Room of 13m2 provides a quiet area for aromatherapy foot massages, pedicures, foot spas, beauty care and a massage chair. Adjoining this room is a fully equipped hairdressing salon with two visiting hairdressers per week.
6. Rose Cottage our special needs wing - 150m2, provides a secure home like environment and the rooms can be fully monitored via the nurse call system. Rose Cottage has a kitchen, fully furnished dining area, lounge area and activity room. The dining room opens out to landscaped gardens, fish pond and a gazebo.
