Review Dudley Foord House

Opened June 2017, Dudley Foord House is Anglicare's newest residential care home located in the award winning master planned suburb The Ponds.

The innovative building design incorporates a 'village feel Main Street' complete with shopfronts for some of the services we provide (e.g. Hairdresser, Wellness Centre and Cafe) is filled with natural light.

This state of the art home is filled with natural sunlight and the innovative dementia design principles, which are first of its kind in Sydney, offers residents a range of recreational, social and health services provided by experienced and qualified staff. The site and rooms are specifically designed to provide care tailored to the individual needs of each resident in a home-like environment and maintain independence. Furthermore ageing-in-place and ongoing care is provided as residents' needs change.

There are seven connected wings and all areas open to internal courtyards which connect to the beautiful gardens. Some of the courtyards contain chicken pens, bird houses, raised garden beds, gardening sheds, pergolas and a covered rotunda. All outdoor areas are on the same level as the home.

A BBQ area, café and multi-purpose hall (with access to a children’s playground) provide enjoyable spaces for residents and their visitors.

The main issues: increase in government funding essential more not for profit aged care centres must be built to cope with the coming of 'baby boomers' insufficient staff to cope with needs of the elderly.. staff numbers and ratios MUST increase workers are, mostly, caring individuals but stressed by pressure on meeting needs of the elderly in care low wages for workers give little incentive for people to work in aged services RN should be paid same wages as in hospitals
