When I first placed my parent in the facility, I was advised so many changes and renovations were going ahead, and to date not much has occurred. I know these things take time but my understanding was the plans had been put in place quite some time before my parent became a resident. I have witnessed the stimulation and overall wellbeing of many of the residence ( in partiucular those who are non verbal and unable to walk, to be minimal and in my mind totally unacceptable. There are many days when they are just left sitting around in silence and with no nursing contact, rather than at least being placed in front of the television with a movie or concert to watch. Many residence don't have an Family to visit and rely on staff to provide that extra attention. I have also witnessed staff ratio's of an unacceptable level, where residence were told to wait when they requested certain attention (such as toileting) The cleanliness of the rooms need addressing also. I have brought this to the attention of the facility but again to date have noticed no change. I also contacted the Accreditation people in June when I was invited to give feedback, to my disappointment all they did was refer me to the relevent Managers of the facility. Very disappointing. I believe the staff ratios are not adequate and also the amount of staff, although most have good English skills, the EN's and assistants I have found it difficult to converse with at times and my constant requests for certain things have been ignored. I hope to see changes within the facility very soon.
