Staff hard to find, some carers good some terrible. Staff look unhappy and tired.

Impressed with the home, the Social Support activities are great and saw first hand the care and support staff showed to residents living in there.

I did an inspection tour for this place and was a bit disappointed with what I saw. The nursing staff weren't friendly and the place is full of clutter. I waited for awhile at the reception desk for someone to accommodate me. Even though the nursing staff saw me but didn't acknowledge my presence. It was the manager who approached me and asked if she can help. She then gave me a tour of the facility. It is a 2 level facility which is great so there's a lot of space for the residents to move around. The downside is their lift. It is a little bit small for residents in wheelchairs or for ambulance to fit an ambulance bed in case of emergencies. The carpet looks really old and needs refurbishing. Another major issue about safety in this place is their rectangular shaped heaters positioned on the floor hallways and in each resident's rooms. Although the manager has explained to me that it doesn't burn your skin, it is still a potential hazard for tripping or a resident's walker frame getting caught to its side. If someone tripped and fall to the ground, you just hope they wouldn't land to one of its corners. They have a decent game area but it was surrounded with clutter. There were a few wheelchairs pushed onto the corner and a few chairs that they used for toiletting residents. You would think that for a facility as big like theirs, they have an allocated equipment room. You can also find a few dvd and cd tapes at the corner of that game room that could be unsafe for older people to walk passed. The good thing about this place is their programs. They offer yearly treasured moments for residents to experience from their Magic Moments. It can be a unique dining experience or to go fishing. They also have " 5 Ways to Make My Day" printed and framed at every residents room which I think is a great person centred approach in understanding what matters to the residents as an individual.
