Room Description

Each resident room in the facility is a single room with ensuite and with reverse cycle air conditioning
The building opened in 2015 and has been professionally fitted out
Rooms include a wardrobe chest of drawers bedside locker comfortable chair table and 2 chairs.
Wall floor and window coverings are in a neutral palette to enable residents to add their own colour with personal ornaments and pictures
Furniture has been chosen to be hard-wearing whilst being comfortable and homely in style
Service connections include a direct dial telephone television nurse call and power outlets

Common Areas Description

The Mary Damian Centre opened in April 2015 with 44 rooms
Residents have access to a central building that includes the main reception and foyer chapel with historical stained glass windows and a caf
Garden areas are accessible via paved pathways and offer view of the nearby convent and garden areas
Resident areas are divided into 2 separate clusters Ellen Whitty and Marcella. Both clusters include dining and lounge areas activity rooms and quiet sitting areas
A fully equipped kitchenette is located in each unit for residents and guests to make teacoffee or light snacks
Residents have access to a dedicated chapel and quiet reflection room for times when they may want to sit quietly without distractions

Wall floor and window coverings are in a neutral palette to enable residents to add their own colour with personal ornaments and pictures
Picture rails have been fitted in residents rooms
Furniture has been chosen to be hard-wearing whilst being comfortable and homely in style
High quality tap ware and shower fittings are used in the ensuites
All resident rooms have an enclosed patioliving space with aspects to the landscaped gardens. The enclosed patio is furnished with an al fresco dining setting. Full-length windows to the patios are tinted to facilitate privacy and temperature control
Rooms are fully furnished and reflect resident preferences. Furniture includes timber veneer finished wardrobes chest of drawers desk and bedside locker
Service connections including nurse call data phone and electrical outlets are duplicated in each room to allow maximum flexibility and choice in room set out
The ensuite has heat lamps installed in the ceiling exhaust fan ducting sky lighting and over toilet LED lamps. The ensuite is designed to allow sufficient space to support mobile bathing
As part of our integrated model of care for those with dementia all rooms are dementia-friendly
The placement of down lights and fittings is designed to provide visual assistance to residents with dementia

Common Areas Description

Resident rooms are grouped in two wings of 22 and 27 residents. Each wing has an air conditioned shared lounge room dining room and activity room. The activity room can be used for family gatherings meals and functions
The Activities Room is a very pleasant room with a homely feel to it fitted out as it is with a sideboardhutch. Timber and glass bi-fold doors can be closed off to make this into a private function room for residents to entertain family and friends
Residents have access to a dedicated reflection room for times when they may want to sit quietly without distractions. A fully equipped kitchenette in each wing is available for residents and guests to make teacoffee or light snacks
The facility has a large activity area coffee shop and chapel. Residents and relatives have access to administration allied health and therapy staff located in the central administration area.
The building is constructed on a single level and is surrounded by extensive and professionally landscaped gardens. Pathways are wide and have a level gradient to enable ease of access for residents with mobility aids
The facility has an outdoor pergola which provides a pleasant spot for residents to enjoy a barbeque or picnic with family and friends. It is easily accessible via a wide level pathway
High quality floor coverings are used throughout the facility with the type of flooring being carefully selected to facilitate resident mobility
Colours have been chosen to assist with way finding with different colours in different functional areas and a contrasting colour at room edges
