Probably like all aged care facilities understaffed but staff are unfailingly kind and professional under sometimes trying circumstances

We were very happy with the care that my father received.

Some of the staff are wonderful but carers who are being hired recently are not up to standard.

My mother lives in an aged care facility, she is in a wheel chair. It doesn’t matter what time of day or when I go to see her, she is happy, clean and in good spirits. All of her medical needs are met to an appropriate standard and there are plenty of activities for her to take part in. I am also made to feel very at home while I am there. Any issues that may arise are dealt with immediately I feel that the staff treat the residents almost like royalty, showing respect and maintaining the dignity of each resident. I couldn’t recommend the facility highly enough

Our mother was 94 years old with dementia and no longer looking after herself and even with home help and our care it was much too dangerous for her to be living home alone. She was still very active walking unaided without any support at all and in fact she out paced me when we went for a walk. With heavy hearts we admitted her into care at Nazareth Care, Ballarat. We felt that this was the best aged care facility in our area and having worked their myself for 22 years I was aware of the standard of care the staff were expected to provide for those in their care. One of the issues mum had was her low weight, even with supplements and us providing meals for her at home she failed to thrive but after being in care for a couple of months her weight improved and physically she was looking so much better, however there were some areas that concerned me. Our mother developed a uti and as a result of increased confusion she had a fall and from there she ended up having two more and with last last fall she suffered a cracked pelvis which resulted in her being bedridden, six weeks later our dear mother passed away. Overall the care she received at Nazareth Care during her 10 month stay was of an appropriate standard but I feel better care could have been provided if new staff were monitored more closely and not placed onto shifts they were not familiar with and did not have the experience or capability to give the quality of care that has been trademark of Nazareth Care. There will be an ever increasing demand for quality aged care facilities therefore it is of the utmost importance for the correct training of new staff so they will provide the best quality of care.
