While most staff are easy to communicate with and generally very friendly, the upper management are less so. When a problem is raised (eg faeces left on person or frequency of incontinence pad changes or type of pad required) - even when we ask as politely as possible - they tend to become very defensive. When in need of some cream or lotion for chafing, staff had to wait for medical staff member to OK it, which could take some time. It has got to the point where some family members feel very uneasy about visiting or raising an issue because of the manager's reprimands. The food is generally unappetising (especially the cooked food, which can be bland and dry at times). One of the other patients said it was "horrible, but what can you do". I've heard a staff member (a nurse, not one of the other care staff) arguing with my relative who was in early stages of dementia - not an approach conducive to anyone's wellbeing. I know it is a very difficult job and occasionally staff may get irritated, so I hope that was an isolated event. There are some lovely staff there, but as a rule I don't think they receive adequate training in dealing with dementia patients psychologically. I wonder now if my relative (not my mother) would have been better off in a facility with fewer dementia patients. We didn't realise just how many there were; she shared a room with a dementia patient who was totally non-communicative - except when she called out or swore. To be fair they did offer to change rooms, but by that stage my relative didn't seem to want to. I certainly wouldn't recommend this facility to anyone of reasonably sound mind or still in reasonable possession of their faculties. Also, the parking is limited both at the facility and on surrounding streets.

Staff at Regis facilities do their best under very difficult conditions. Resources are few. Care staff numbers are pitiful. Food is delivered to rooms cold. Constant demands by residents interrupt routines. Any extra funding goes to admin not care staff. Regis is clearly a profit making entity heavily reliant on staff goodwill. A great deal of family monitoring and support is needed for residents.

I was so underwhelmed and disgusted with the accommodation in which my relative was placed but as an in-law I was unable to have any input in the situation.
