For 3 years that my Mum was in care, I had the privilege of visiting her on most days so my observations were done over that period of time. Property could do with an internal renovation of residents rooms as they are quite dated as well as the common areas. Garden areas are lovely. As in most Aged Care facilities there is insufficient staff for the number of residents and often agency staff working who do not really have the time to spend with the residents and really understand their needs. The meals are large which would create a lot of waste, but I guess that is better than residents going hungry for lack of food. The menus are on a 4 week rotation with a copy on each table. Aged care facilities can be lonely places for those in care particularly for any who are shy by nature even with the variety of activities each week day. The weekends tend to be left to family time. I was fortunate that I was able to take my Mum home for lunches on the weekends which she always enjoyed. Most Residents who were mobile always commented that it was good to be able to get out and away from the routine of the Aged Care facility. In general the care offered appeared good in the Hostel section and any issues raised with management were addressed in a timely manner.
