Yallambee Hostel was officially opened on 12 August 1984, consisting of 25 comfortable rooms each with its own shower & toilet.As the Hostel’s purpose of care for the aged progressed, by the end of 1988 saw the need to employ more staff.January 1991, the Federal Government introduced its Hostel Outcome Standards containing a complex set of rules and regulations for Hostels to achieve and in 1997 the Commonwealth Department of Health & Family Services launched its “Aged Care Structural Reform Package†introducing “Standards and Accreditationâ€ÂÂ.With the help of a grant from the then Millmerran Shire Council and the facilities good capital reserves, plans and specifications for an 8 bed dementia wing were finally accepted.The 6 August 1999 saw the official opening of the 8 bed secure dementia wing known as “Kooroongarra Lodge.â€ÂÂOur services continue to grow and improve. We are in an expansion mode and within the next 12 months will complete the building of an additional 16 beds.

Each spacious room provides accommodation for one person and boasts high quality furniture and fittings, including electronic adjustable beds fitted with pressure-relieving mattress, bedside drawers, fitted wardrobe with lockable storage. High quality soft furnishings include curtains and bedding, and your private ensuite includes toilet, shower, vanity and grab rails. Individually controlled reverse cycle air-conditioning is provided in each room. All rooms feature large windows and either attractive vinyl or carpet flooring.
