My mother is in The Tabulam and Templar Homes in Bayswater ,a German community and multicultural home .I am very pleased that I was able to get care for my mum there as she has Vascular Dementia and she is treated with care and dignity her needs are very well met and I see first hand how the caring staff are . I visit mum on a daily basis and really feel very welcome with warm greetings just like meeting family and this is what I was hoping for for my mother when the time came that I could not care for her 24/7 anymore as she was wandering and was a danger to herself ,now I have peace of mind . It takes a bit of getting used to ,in being in an Aged Care Facility but mum with the help of the dedicated and experienced personal care staff the transition has been made so much easier . And I know my mum is safe .

hi. I have been a volunteer visitor at ttha, tabulam and templer home for the aged for 18 years now, i now have a cousin there, who is in the best care. i also had a sister there for 16 months but she past away with demensia, i lost my mum in 1993 to cancer, whom i looked after till the end, then i went to the home, for me it was as if i needed to look for another motherly figure, this home is so wonderful, that when the time comes, for my husband and i, yes i would gladly go there, they have many different stages of living, independent, hostel, low and high care. i have looked after some wonderful people.

This is the most caring and nurturing facility I have worked at. The residents really do come first here. This is my passion, working in aged care, and I have now found the perfect workplace. Staff are also well looked after, which has been unheard of at other facilities I have worked in. I would happily place my own parents in this facility if needed.

As with most Residential Aged Care, budgets seem to be the primary focus now, particularly with the executive staff. Of course this has a flow on effect. The facility has numerous wings of variable age and therefore décor. Some good, some in need of update. The high turnover of permanent nursing staff is of concern at the moment. Nursing staff seem flustered whether they are agency or not. Thank goodness for the live in young volunteer group direct from Germany...I don't think this 'business' would be able to continue operations otherwise. Having said that my mother is respected and cared for in an appropriate manner. Her reliance on this type of residential care is required as her dementia continues her withdrawal from interactions with others, and her decreasing mobility puts her at risk of complete isolation.
