Staff have always been very accommodating and caring. They have notified us each time there has been an issue. The staff go out of their way to make sure our family member is being looked after. They are very observant of any changes.

My mother has not only been supported physically but emotionally. She made her decision to enter care and has told me repeatedly how happy she is feeling and I appreciate the collaborative manner staff communicate with me.

Angry everyday I visited, there was always something that had not been done for my brother. I understand that staffing is resource poor due to budgeting, but our aged deserve better care and respect.

In my experience having my Mother in a home for ten years, I am disgusted with some of the staff. The good staff quite often move on, speaking to them, they said they just cannot treat the residence like some staff do. Even now, here are a few good staff. However, my Mothers last few years were hell for her, having delusions and being difficult, she was treated second class. I walked in SO many times hearing how staff were speaking to her. I followed the complaints process, the situation changed for a few weeks, but soon staff went back to the way they were. I believe there should be 'outside' neutral staff, sent to every nursing home to see just what goes on. Not once, but yearly. I even bought a cam for mums room, but I got so upset when speaking to the manager, was told it was against the law to use one, so I didn't.

I believe staff need to be interviewed differently. There also needs to have ad hoc audits by sending someone in to monitor staff behaviour. My Mother's experience was less than professional even after complaints process. I was downright disgusted by some, not all staff behaviour.
